ABOUT ME

Hey!

I’m Alina and I’m a 17 year old filmmaker from California! I’m the founder, writer, designer, & publisher of this site. Basically saying, I run this site 100% independently and all my work is self-published + self-made and has been for the past 5 years. My work doesn’t center around one specific focus and that’s kind of the point of this whole site. That said, there are a few passions I return to more often than others and they tend to shape a lot of what I create.

At my core, I’m a writer. I’ve been writing more consistently than anything else I’ve been doing, hence this blog. I used to always write my own books during online school back in 2020 and that morphed into my love for blogging. From there, this whole platform came to life. Back in middle school, when I first started this, I used to use this space as a personal diary, writing long entries about every inner thought I’d had. Over time, however, I grew with my work. I found myself writing most about the things I spend the most time with: film and music. It took me a long time to figure out which of the two I had more of a calling for because both film & music impact my identity greatly. A big reason for that is because I’ve been able to grow up in a household that celebrates and empowers both. I think my family and I have single-handedly kept our local AMC in business for the last ten years and I probably have a concert lined up every three months.

That said, I’m currently pursuing a film major & I launched my film company (Dashwood Films) last year! I love talking about anything movies, but my genre of choice is probably coming-of-age films, but I love a good horror and comedy (& horror comedy). Here’s my letterboxd! In addition to music & tv, I adore culture discussions. Because of my unhealthy access to a Buzzfeed subscription at the age of 10, I’ve been heavily fixated on media deep dives and what we consume. My favorite favoriteee topic to talk about it all about women, especially their portrayal in society (any passion project I do has to do with it).
